Our Hearts Our Hands

Gidgee recently had the honour of delivering a key presentation to the NACCHO Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) National Summit, held in Gulmerrogin/Darwin from 16-17 October 2025.   

Gidgee's dynamic CEO Dr Manjit Sekhon, and our fabulous RHD EN, Amo Wineera, delivered a detailed presentation on Gidgee's achievements in this critical aspect of health care in our region. 

The presentation detailed the many challenges continuing to confront our clients in receiving the depth and breadth of care required beyond Gidgee's primary health care services.  These include logistics concerns facing our remote Lower Gulf patients, but also the inequities facing Mount Isa-based patients seeking cardiology services.  

Gidgee encouraged participants to consider the broad health impact of these diseases and the importance of obtaining better cardiology assessments in the region in the future, a key component in the Summit them of "Our Hearts Our Hands".
