Position Summary

The Executive Manager of Operations, is responsible for ensuring all Gidgee Healing community, clinical, social emotional wellbeing and family health services are providing evidence based and cultural responsive services to Mt Isa and lower gulf communities.

Functional Accountabilities

As a member of the Executive Management team, this role has been created to support leadership across all services that provide care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people within Gidgee Healing’s region. Whilst supporting evidence based, culturally responsive care, this role will need to form appropriate relationships with fund holders who provide resources for the above mentioned programs. It is a requirement that the Executive Manager plays a central role in strategic planning to ensure new and existing services are meeting ever changing community needs.

Selection Criteria

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health Care/Planning/Promotion
  • Desirable Post graduate qualifications in Health/Business/Health discipline
  • Experience in health service design and implementation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in regional/remote Australia
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Understanding of key principles of determinants of health and how this impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in regional/remote Australia
  • A high level of understanding of how Government and social policies are developed and enacted, including how funding is obtained across the health sector
  • Experience working in senior management positions in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander policy, programs, or services
  • Understanding of service reform, and experience in change management principles to support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Exceptional leadership, planning, and program/project management skills at both strategic and operational levels
  • Capacity to assess and manage risk, problem solve, and negotiate successful outcomes in challenging circumstances
  • A proven ability to build relationships and strategic partnerships with government, non-government, and community partners
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively and sensitively with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as autonomously
  • Ability to travel

Desirable

  • Experience working in a primary healthcare setting
  • Previous experience in a Community or Not-for-Profit work environment

Other Requirements

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.
  • Satisfactory police check – no serious Criminal/Court record.
  • Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required, including the requirement to travel, work, and stay overnight for up to several days at a time in remote areas.
